My Family Medicine rotation was a unique one because I was at two different locations. I started at Amazing Medical Services with Dr. Dairo for the first 2 weeks of the rotation. This was a good learning experience and a fast-paced environment which allowed me to see both urgent care types of cases along with chronic disease management. For instance, I was able to learn a lot more about managing hypertension and diabetes. This was something I was hoping to learn prior to this rotation and was able to learn a lot more. My other Family Medicine rotation was in Hicksville and was also similar in that I learned more about chronic disease management and urgent care-like cases. However, I was also able to learn more about interpreting lab results in detail and when to order specific tests and in how many months. This was something I struggled with in my prior rotations and I am glad I was able to learn it in this rotation. I look forward to using the things I learned in this rotation during my future rotations and when I begin practicing.
